His apology was not the thing she'd expected when she checked her phone in the morning. With one eye she stared at the screen and then rolled to her belly and pulled the phone to the tip of her nose as she tried to focus.

"I shouldn't have done any of that, I can't stop thinking about it."

She patted her hands over the bedcovers, fumbling through folds until she found her glasses and pressed them to her face.

"I can't stop thinking about it either," she replied, "But I liked it. It was exactly what I wanted."

His reply was immediate but she didn't read it. With the phone on her chest she thought about how she slid her hands along the wall to find her way to the bathroom in the middle of those summer nights and he told her that that was one of his favorite things about her. He told her shortly before she left that he had a habit of taking her glasses in the morning and putting them somewhere different than where she'd set them the night before just so he could watch her fumble for them in the morning.

This fella, however.

She opened the text.

"I liked it too. But I feel bad. I feel like I should feel bad!"

"Why?"

"I don't know. I'm just really confused."

Ugh.

She set the phone down and didn't take it with her when she crawled out of bed.

He texted three more times and she thought of a drunken fight with the other one. Neither one of them had apologized in the morning and they'd had a great breakfast afterwards.

She retrieved the phone and replied, "Burn me."

"What?" He asked.

"It's a pleasure to burn," she replied.

I'm a little confused about what happened in the end but it held my interest!

Twitchy lady who is addicted to tea and writing. That pretty much sums me up. :)

I'm a bit overly friendly, maybe creepily so, but that's okay. I refuse to apologize.
