Time lay scattered everywhere. In the depths of the forest he could hear the 1700s exploring; somewhere to his left there were the ancient druids.

The watches had stopped. All of them. Then again, everything was happening all at once, and there is only so much that clockwork can stand. Mechanisms are man-made and they can be broken, just as man can.
time is meant to flow
He was aware that this couldn't last - not that there was really a concept of lasting now (not a meaningful one, anyway). The universe would right itself soon enough (soon couldn't really exist either). The ancient and modern eras intermingled, colliding.
There was nothing of the future, though. That should've been his first clue that this wasn't right.
Time had stopped. Time had ceased. His eyes closed for a - well, it couldn't be a second, those didn't exist anymore.
At least he'd made history. (Or he would've done. If it had existed anymore.
